Rotorua E-Engage Your Community Conference
An 'E-Engage Your Community' Conference is being planned for Rotorua on Friday 28th November. The format is based on a popular and successful event in Hamilton earlier this year. A related conference will be held in Wellington in September.
The Rotorua conference will be workshop-based, making full use of Waiariki Institute of Technology's computer suites, audio-video technology and other facilities. It will cover a wide range of topics, from using free desktop videoconferencing to setting up a basic website or online survey. The audience is social service organisations and central/local government agencies that work with community groups. Further details will be available shortly. Registrations and enquiries should be directed to Richard Totton at the Rotorua Social Services Council Inc, e-mail rossco@callplus.net.nz, phone 349 4440.

Tip of the Month
If you or your organisation want to get more Internet-savvy, a great place to start is webguide.net.nz. The WebGuide project was started in 2003 by Ted Zorn of the Waikato Management School ICT Research Group, and has subsequently been developed and refined with a range of partner organisations. A recent addition is the WebGuide Blog, containing tips and information directly relevant to not-for-profit groups.
